Adopting dogs (please…?)

Comments Off on Adopting dogs (please…?)

Adopting a new pet can be a life-changing experience. It’s a decision that requires careful consideration, as you want to find the perfect pet to fit your lifestyle and personality. For my wife and I, that pet was Mica, a homeless dog from Taiwan, who we adopted through an organization that rescues dogs and brings them to Vancouver.

Mica was my wife’s pick out of all the other homeless dogs in the organization. She saw something special in Mica, and she was drawn to her unique characteristics. We knew right away that she would be the perfect addition to our family.

When Mica first arrived, she was very scared. She didn’t want to be near us, and she would always keep her distance. It was clear that she had been through a lot, and she needed time to adjust to her new surroundings and to trust us.

We were patient with Mica, and we gave her plenty of space and time to get comfortable. We spent hours sitting with her, talking to her, and trying to show her that she was safe with us. It was a slow process, but gradually, Mica started to warm up to us.

It took about two months before Mica was comfortable sitting beside us and letting us pet her. We were thrilled when she finally began to trust us, and it was a huge milestone in our journey together.

What made adopting Mica even more special was our decision to give adoption a try after we heard about the sad ending for homeless dogs in shelters. We learned that these poor dogs were often put down if they couldn’t find homes, and we wanted to give a homeless dog like Mica a second chance at life.

We were amazed by how quickly Mica became a beloved member of our family. She had a playful personality and loved to snuggle with us on the couch. She had unique quirks that made us laugh, and we could tell that she was grateful to have a loving home.

Adopting Mica was a decision that changed our lives for the better. We learned the power of patience and trust, and we felt the love that only a pet can give. We are grateful for the opportunity to provide Mica with a loving home, and we hope that our story inspires others to consider adopting a homeless pet.
